*There is a big lake in India called POWAI lake that is well protected from being polluted because Indian scientists and environmentalists felt concerned for the living conditions of the Indian generation after hundred or so years .If the current water shortage in the world go to the worst , the lake could be utilized for domestic consumption.
*Similarly the Americans struggle hard to secure oil interests not for the current need of oil but for keeping the strategic oil reserves and its own national oil untouched for future consumption. The American children after years would have abundant oil reserves.
*Scientists in laboratories in Europe and Japan are busy working on experiments that would reap fruits only after decades much beyond the lifetime of the perspiring scientists..
All above groups knew that they had to work hard so that their fellowmen in the future would live a better life.
IIf a nation lacks these sacrificing patriotic people, it is doomed to destruction.
The main question that every reader anticipates is - Does our country have or ever had such people? Somali people who would sacrifice their time and personal interests for the national interest, for the future Somali generation? I know some readers would find my message as a romantic letter and deride at it as good words would not heal a bleeding injury the way medicine does , but I would remind these people that the brains and senses of the Somali people are as those societies that were changed not by swords but through public awareness programmes.
If the faction leaders , that is what I always love to call them rather than warlords (not because of saving their faces but because I always prefer in reconciliation than confrontation), would ever heed my message and I could make them do what I say by magic , I would perform a miracle and direct them to a way that will benefit all.
My message to all the political leaders that play a lion's share in holding the whole Somali communities in this interminable expectation of the new government would be as follows:
"Since you are struggling for a certain purpose -- financial gains, power , tribal superiority , tribal interests, personal fame, highest family life conditions, revenge on the others, etc . I would like to show you that we can realize your justifiable interests and request you to drop those greedy selfish interests that are harmful to the society.
If you make proper calculations , we can show you that a well planned democratic government would give you more than what you expect from tribalbased regime that you are obsessed with. Calm down and let us all cooperate to implement new political measures tailored for Somali societies in crisis."
The political measures is the creation of a democratic system of government in such a way that
a) there will be regional federal governments in all major states of Somalia with its own defense and police forceb) the power of the president and his government will be so limited that it would never be possible to capture the whole country in internal coup by the president or combined effort.c) For the first ten years which will be the initial stage that we lean how to walk, the country will be put on self help campaign under combined effort similar to Marshall plan for every region by its government :
i) There will be government auditors – a team of highly experienced auditors to countercheck the proper utilization of the regional government budget and the government budget will be oncentrated on the building of new Somali generation that has all infrastructures of civilized society.
ii) There will be a package of free education through the media and schools , teaching the public about the positive sides of democracy and its features.
iii) There will be strict implementation of capital punishment against transgressors and criminals following an eye for an eye Rule.
iv) The nation will be prepared to grasp a Somali tailored democratic system and free trade. Higher level public participation in the economic structure of the country would always be appropriate. This would mean large scale of privatization process removing the mentality that every stone of the nation is owned by the government and I don’t care it attitude.
v) There will be "MEET THE PRESS" TV interview programme which every minister has to answer questions on the developments of his ministry and the valid rumours of his mistakes. A confident minister would take the advantage to show the services he made for the nation while an offender minister would be caught.
While a Japanese child dreams to become an I.T expert and feels proud of the technology advancement his country made , a beloved poor Somali child sees nothing beyond the tribal elders gathering and tribal fighting . the unfortunate reality with us today is tribal obsession took precedence over education as highly educated professionals from USA and Europe went to Kenya not to contribute their wisdom and knowledge to the Somali group having difficult in reaching one common goal but to support their respective tribes with all the knowledge they got so that their relatives would grab a large portion of benefits from the conference.
I invite all Somali intellectuals in the world to submit a piece of their personal view and mental contribution about :• How best the political crisis of our country could be resolved.• How we could create a Somali society free from the curse oftribalism.• How we could design a political system that aims to keep Somaliarunning for ever.• What best and appropriate actions to take in order to get ourbrothers in the Northern Somalia back to the new federal system in Somalia?• How we would transform the 14 years of ordeal we went through as apainful example and warning that would act as nightmare, warning us of playing with fire again.
Your contribution of opinion would lead to the creation of worldwide " save
Somalia " movement that would answer all above questions .
I encourage submission from those who• Care to reach a final and lasting solution to the Somali crisis anddo not mind much about their personal or tribal involvement or gain to the cause.
Result counts much to them.• Agree that the aim is to get a good government and if the victorybell is heard from other areas would also support , including Mbagathi .• Who have a package of political ideas that will play a key role in
bringing solution but lack the route to pass their wisdom .
While degree colleges are a plus point , a piece of paper from Harvard or Oxford universities for example is not the condition of joining the group
and submitting your ideology but an inborn capability, experience , creativity , honest , mental maturity , spontaneous patriotism , etc are the conditions required for joining the new group.
